Jaitapur Power Plant will also have severe effect on the marine life of Jaitapur Madban and other nearby villages. In 1989-90 National Institute of oceanography conducted a study to find out the impact of Jaitapur Power Plant on the Marine life in this region. This report states that ?Jaitapur is blessed with pure and excellent marine life. If this project makes use of sea water for the purpose of heating and the water is deposited back in sea again, it will completely destroy the marine life in this region?.
Even a small change in the temperature can affect the marine life.?This project will need around 5200 crores litres of water from the sea for the cooling purpose. This will increase the temperature by 12 degrees by the time the water is deposited back in the sea. So because of this Power Plant, the marine life in Jaitapur faces the danger of extinction. Based on the above observations the government should rightfully cancel the Jaitapur Power Plant.
Other institutes like? Central water and power research station? and? Mumbai natural history society? have also conducted their study on this nuclear project and submitted their report as to how this project will affect the marine life in this region. Institutes like ?National Geographic? have stated that how the radiation rays from this power plant will affect the Marine life. Due to Industrialization in cities like Mumbai and other suburbs? in recent years, the quality of seafood in the creeks, sea and rivers in this region has severely deteriorated. If this nuclear project starts in Jaitapur then it will affect the high quality and tasty sea food, for which Konkan is famous for.
Nuclear power plant is not only an option for generating electricity. Natural resources like sunlight, wind, flowing water, coal .etc. can be used to generate electricity. ?Saving electricity? means ?generating electricity?. Around 39% to 52% of electricity can be saved which is otherwise wasted. ?Some of the measures to save electricity are to use less electricity, electricity which is wasted in vehicles can be saved, use of unwanted electricity in Malls, Shopping complex, restaurants can also be cut down.

After that Dapoli agricultural university made it clear that they had given information only about the ?animals? and ?vegetation? in the region. ?They have neither supported nor rejected the Jaitapur power plant.?Nuclear Corporation of India (NPCIL) at times think that they are more powerful than the law. Without waiting for the official permission from the forest and environmental ministry, one of the board officials of the (NPCIL) announced that work for constructing Jaitapur power plant will begin from 1st?of July. This showed how the NPCIL does not adhere to the law and democracy of this country.
