Amhi MumbaiKar !!

Not my normal type of Blog, just trying something different. A write-up kind of Stuff !!? Everyone knows what our Mumbai City is going through currently… All those which we Call ?Par-prantiya? in Marathi that is those who are not from this State, have run away from this City. ?After a few months, once #Corona thing subsides, they will be back coz sadly they don?t have many options in their states. This City once again will be their own city. Their City of Dreams ..Their Bombay.. Or BamBai as they unknowingly or arrogantly call it even though the name has been changed to Mumbai in 1995.

Today my Mumbai is injured. It is under treatment & recovering courtesy thousands of health workers, Policemen & other authorities who are working day in & day out to heal this City. Today my Mumbai has lost its charm. Temples are Closed, Malls are Closed, Shops are Closed, Local Trains are not running… The City which never sleeps has sadly come to an unwanted halt. Even people from other cities have restricted entry of Mumbai-Kars in their cities. Still many have fled to their homes from where they originally belong. ?However, I am still in Mumbai,? I was in Mumbai yesterday & I will be in Mumbai tomorrow too…. This is my Mumbai.. the place where I was born. How can I think of even leaving this city when it is suffering?

However, as I try to find positive from every negative, the positive things I see is that My Mumbai for a change is relaxing, it’s taking a much-needed break. The financial capital of India which is exploited 24 by 7 to earn money. Crowded Trains, crowded Roads, Not a place to breathe, high levels of population, green pastures being converted to concrete buildings, daily mass migration… I think my Mumbai is getting a much-deserved break which it was wanting for a long time.

Knowing the Spirit of Mumbai, the faith in SiddhiVinayak & other religious places, I know Mumbai will fight back, everything will be back on track… those crowded trains, crowded buses… All those street food vendors and that mass influx of population. Seriously, I know My Mumbai is ready to suffer again in name of being a financial capital as it gives the opportunity to others to prosper. But sometimes I wonder,? why should there be a population of ?1.84 Crores that too in a density of 32.03 Sq. Km ?? Why don?t Govt. Authorities declare that my Mumbai has reached its maximum capacity & can?t take mass migration anymore. Till when should my Mumbai bear the brunt of undeveloped states of India?? Why & till when?? Corona has given us a slight glimpse of the situation. I hope a day will come when someone will be serious about the points I mentioned above.

Till then I along with my other Mumbai-Kars will do my best for my Mumbai to recover… Because for me Mumbai is not just my workplace, it’s my home.. it’s my emotion. For others Mumbai may be a business stronghold but for me, Mumbai is my family !!
