I am not a tech-savvy type of guy but if you live in today?s world it?s simply impossible to ignore Technology. From paying your bills to receiving your Salary now a day?s everything has become online & digital. If Internet collapses one day by any chance the whole world will be at standstill.
Some say a human being is been dependent on technology, there are lots of cons of been continuously exposed to Internet & so on. However, the scenario is such that Internet is the thing that runs the world today. Plenty of good things have happened after Introduction of Mobile & Internet. The world has come closer, digitalization has changed the way the business is conducted & with the invention of Social Media every individual is updated about the current news 24 X 7.
With the good comes the bad. The similar thing can be said about the Mobile & Internet. Internet addiction is one of the major issues affecting today?s youth. With mobile companies providing high-speed Internet at a minimal cost, every second person today spends hours on Social Media sites like Facebook & WhatsApp. Spending long hours glued to your Mobile Screen can damage your eyes. Especially small kids are most likely to be affected by this. Also, things like meeting friends personally, chatting with them for hours, playing outdoor games have been reduced to an extent after the advent of Social Media. Well talking about Social Media, it will take a fresh blog to write about the ill-effects of Facebook & other Social Networking sites.
Coming back to the Era of Digital Transformation, I have been the lucky soul like many who have experienced the transformation happening. Still, remember in early 2000 when Pager was introduced & friend got it in college and we were checking the Score of IND Vs AUS ODI through it. After that came the Cordless type Mobile having an antenna. Not remember the accurate costing but the call rates were something like Rs. 32 Per Minute for outgoing calls & Rs. 16 Per Minute for incoming calls.
I still remember when I connected my Desktop to the Internet through my MTNL landline. Speed was so slow that after entering username & password of your Email Account you can have a glass of water till your email opens. During those days Desktops were expensive & Internet through Landlines at a super slow speed was not a feasible option. So most of the people use to visit Cyber Cafes for browsing the internet at High Speed. At that time Cyber Caf? business was at boom & every area had around 4 to 5 cafes.
Coming back to Mobile it was Nokia who was the market leader those days. Around 80% of people in India have been introduced to features like Camera, Video Recording, Gaming on their phones because of Nokia. Still, remember playing games on Nokia N-Gage phone. It was really fun. With the advent of Android, Smart Phones & high-speed Internet Mobile Technology has reached an entirely different level. Earlier people used to flaunt their ?Blackberry? phones and today it is ?Apple? Phones which are considered as Status Symbol.
Also, how can we forget the great computers? Those ugly looking bulky Desktops are now replaced with Sleek Laptops which enables you to carry your work wherever you go. At times it can be extremely frustrating as it can ruin your long weekend or a festival where you have no option but to work when your peers are enjoying & having fun. In contrast advent of Laptops & Tabs have made options like Work from Home more comfortable as you can carry your machine anywhere with you & do your work.
The pace at which Technology is moving forward don?t know what?s in-store for us in a decade or so. Maybe a Robot to ease household work in your living space can be a reality in future. So Let?s continue to embrace the brilliant Era of Digital Transformation with open hands staying away from negative side-effects of it.
